I recently completed my profile on NaNoWriMo and was a little thrown by the question: Noveling Music? I deliberated for a few seconds, mainly because I don’t listen to music whilst writing, and finally chose an artist I enjoy whatever my mood. It’s still niggling at me though, as things often do. I’ve been trying to decide if music would actually be more of a distraction. It’s been known to calm me, motivate and cheer me, but I’m not sure I’d be able to concentrate on a task with Bruno Mars crooning in the background.
When push comes to shove I don’t think it would make any difference. Once I’m in the zone I’m not aware of anything but the world I’m creating and the characters in my head.
I am interested in how other people use music when they seek inspiration. I may even try it, because with so many words to cram into just thirty days I’m going to need all the help I can get!
Having said that, I’m looking forward to the journey ahead. Already my head is crammed with ideas and the characters I will soon be giving a voice, are all but salivating at the bit! Bring it on!
Thanks, as always for reading.
Until next time
Mel
