Introducing Lance Legion

Lance LegionI’m sure it will come as no surprise to most of you that I enjoy science-fiction and, in particular, superheroes. I’ve had a character in my mind for a long time, and he’s been driving me quite mad. So, I give you – Lance Legion. I will be writing Lance’s adventures as journal entries, and because he’s a complicated character (having five alters), I thought it best to give him his own space! Though connected to this one, the site will allow me to create a world where he rules and I have a hand in his adventures every now and again!

If you’re curious about Lance, you can click here to learn more about him. As writers we sometimes get a character stuck in our head, and for me that’s Lance. Rather than put him on the back burner (I have too many projects and not enough time), I’ve given him life in a way that allows him a voice until I decide what to do with him!

Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy his adventures as much as I enjoyed creating him.

Another unique idea and exciting writing opportunity. I don’t know how you do it all! πŸ™‚

Who needs sleep, that’s what I say! These ideas seem to dominate my thoughts in the wee hours of the night – maybe I need a tranquilizer!

Thanks for commenting. I won’t be bombarding people with Lance, but I had to do something to get him out of my head – he has five alternative personalities so it can get pretty full up there πŸ™‚

I can relate to that. I’ve just been slaving over a new poem – because everyone knows 1:30am is an ideal time to be writing! πŸ˜‰

I’ve just had a quick look around the blog and I’m already impressed by the level of detail you’ve put into fleshing out this character. I’m definitely looking forward to checking it out more and seeing where you take this project next πŸ™‚

Thanks, Callum. I appreciate that. Like I said, he’s been dogging me! I only wish I could draw because the theme I’m using has a comic feature. I might have to do a little experimenting πŸ™‚

I always find inspiration at the this time of night, so I hope you find yours and I’ll look forward to reading the poem πŸ™‚

Actually, I heard a songwriter/poet say recently that she gets up at 4am every morning to write because it’s the time when everything seems quiet and you can be alone with your thoughts but you don’t have to be lonely for too long before the world comes to life again. Quite poignant I thought.

I suppose the it’s the time of day when we are a strange half-way point between being awake and asleep, where it’s often easier to tap into our emotions. At least that’s what I tell myself when the sun is already rising and I’m still working on stanza 4 πŸ˜‰

It’s a nice thought, but I’m not sure I could drag myself out of bed at 4am! If I’m not yet asleep, that’s a different thing entirely though my brain function is likely diminished.

It is a strange half-way point, that’s exactly how it feels. There’s something interesting about visiting other worlds while others are sleeping! And I used to see insomnia as a bad thing πŸ™‚

As for your stanza – it might keep you up half the night, but since it will soon be inspiring your readers it’s worth it πŸ™‚

Any writer I’ve known seems to have suffered from insomnia of some sort; too many stories living in too small a space I guess πŸ™‚

        Thanks for the encouragement πŸ™‚

That’s true, and not a bad thing (most of the time!). Thanks for the support πŸ™‚

    Dear MBS,

I’m interested in your treatment of Lance’s adventures. And still working on my own style (writing, not clothing – that ship sailed long ago!). I, too, am one of those writers who work best in the wee hours – fewer natural distractions and with continued discipline no WikiP or FB until I’ve finished my 4-5 hours. Peace!

Thanks, David. I need to post something over the next few days – I’ve neglected Lance this past few days πŸ™‚ I think it’s great to try out new styles until we find the right fit (again not clothing!). Great to hear from you.
